SmartStudy: Revolutionizing E-Learning for Modern Students

SmartStudy is an educational technology company focused on developing technology-based learning applications for university-level students. Our vision is to improve the quality of education by utilizing innovative and accessible technology for all students. We aim to provide an effective, interactive, and user-friendly e-learning platform to facilitate self-learning and enhance student learning outcomes. Established in 2023 in South Tangerang, Banten, our main product is a technology-based learning application that offers interactive and high-quality educational content for university-level students. It allows students to embark on a journey of self-development and academic growth through comprehensive and innovative e-learning solutions.

We aim to increase the accessibility and flexibility of education in the digital era by offering interactive and high-quality educational content. 3. My Role & Responsibilities

As a member of the Web Design and Development project team (Group D, including Tresya Meisel Adieputri, Maureen Audilia, Kelvin Harianto, Muhammad Evan Julian, Adelio Nohan Abbrarsyah, and Jecczen Vernandez) for the IS556 course at Multimedia Nusantara University, my primary responsibilities centered on creating the E-Learning website (SmartStudy) and its database. I also contributed significantly to the User Interface and Code explanations within the project proposal and managed the presentation materials (PPT). My role ensured the functional implementation and clear documentation of our web application.

4. Design Process & Solution

Our development approach for SmartStudy followed a structured process, emphasizing design and development steps using a specific web framework. This involved creating comprehensive diagrams and designs to ensure a robust and user-friendly platform.

System Design & Architecture

To ensure clarity in the system's structure and user flows, we developed several key diagrams:

• Site Diagram: Provided a high-level overview of the website's structure and navigation, illustrating the main pages and their relationships.
• User Flowchart: Detailed the sequence of actions a user takes to complete specific tasks within the application, such as registration, login, and accessing courses/modules.
• Database Design (ERD/Table Relationships): Defined the entities, attributes, and relationships between tables (e.g., `course_db_content`, `course_db_users`, `course_db_tutors`, `course_db_comments`, `course_db_playlist`, `course_db_bookmark`, `course_db_module`, `course_db_grades`, `course_db_contact`, `course_db_likes`), ensuring a robust data model for the application.

User Interface (UI) & Features

The UI design focused on creating an intuitive and engaging learning environment. SmartStudy offers a variety of features accessible to both students and tutors:

• Registration & Login: Secure processes for creating and accessing accounts, including options for both students and tutors.
• Home Screen: Provides quick access to courses, lectures, modules, and user profile details. It also showcases "Quick Options" like likes/comments, top categories, popular topics, and an option to "Become a tutor".
• About Us: Offers detailed information about SmartStudy's vision, mission, and values, including testimonials from users.
• Courses: Allows users to explore various courses with video lessons, comment sections, and interaction opportunities with instructors and peers.
• Lecturer Profiles: Provides detailed profiles of tutors, including their playlists, total videos, likes, and comments.
• Modules: Enables users to access course modules, including assignments and submitted grades.
• Contact Us: A dedicated form for users to send messages, queries, or suggestions to the SmartStudy team.
• Side Panel: Offers quick navigation to user profiles, login/logout, and main sections of the website.
• Minimize Dashboard: Allows users to hide the dashboard for a clearer view of content, enhancing focus.
• Dark Mode: Provides an option for a dark theme for user comfort in low-light conditions.
• Search Bar: Enables users to easily find specific courses by keywords or titles.
• Tutor-Specific Features: Tutors can manage playlists and content, upload videos and modules, and grade assignments, ensuring comprehensive control over their educational offerings.
